Communion (Holy Eucharist)

Communion is when a person receives the body and blood of Christ (Holy Eucharist) into themselves via bread and wine.

“Those who have been raised to the dignity of the royal priesthood by Baptism, and configured more deeply to Christ by Confirmation, participate with the whole community in the Lord’s own sacrifice by means of the Eucharist.”

– The Catechism of the Catholic Church

Santa Maria Goretti offers sacramental preparation for children preparing for Holy Communion and Reconciliation. Courses begin in January of each year, culminating in the sacramental celebration.

Learning resources are now available for our families to pick up at the Parish Office. Parents are asked to work through the book together with their child to prepare them for their sacrament.
